Site of the New Fourth Army

The present site of the New Fourth Army Command, was originallytwo landlords house, a namekind of  Zhong Mo Yuan, another is Da Fu Di . Now we see the  boat-shaped building is Zhong Mo Yuan . Commander Ye Ting, deputy chief of staff, Zhou Zikun have lived here.Ye Ting ,it is said that what he is not only a famous military strategist, or a scholar,  In addition he was a bit deep accomplished photographic artist.There is also the year, he set up irrigation photo darkroom. 1937年，日军侵入中国，中国南方八省14个地区红军游击队改编为国民革命军陆军新编第四军，简称新四军。在叶挺、项英领导下，新四军英勇抗敌，创建了许多抗日根据地。为中国革命乃至世界人民的反侵略战争做出了巨大的贡献，新四军军部旧址就是当年新四军军部在云岭驻扎时留下的。云岭因是新四军军部所在地，所以被称为“新四军的摇篮”。
    现在的新四军司令部旧址，原是两座地主宅院，一座名叫“种墨园”，一座名叫“大夫第”。
现在我们看到的呈船形的建筑就是种墨园。军长叶挺，副参谋长周子昆都曾在这里居住、办公。那说到叶挺呢，他不仅是著名的军事家，还是一个文人，“千里江淮任驰骋，飞渡大江换人间”就是他的著作。另外他还是位造诣很深的摄影艺术家。这里还有当年他为冲洗照片而设的暗房。这是“叶挺将军摄影作品展”和“叶挺将军生平图片展”，真实再现了当年的烽火岁月，是新四军军史中不可多得的宝贵史料，其中大部分摄影作品都是他任新四军军长期间在皖南拍摄的。说到这里，我们顺便说一下碑园，它是1997年为纪念中国人民抗日战争爆发和新四军成立60周年而新建的。
