    My Favorite Chinese Landmarks
    Hi everyone! I'm going to tell you about some of the coolest landmarks in China. China has so many amazing places to see. I've been lucky enough to visit a few with my family. These are some of my favorites!
    The Great Wall of China
    This one is probably China's most famous landmark. The Great Wall is massive - it's over 13,000 miles long! It was built a really long time ago to protect China from invaders. I got to walk along part of it when my family visited Beijing. Climbing up and down the steep steps was tough, but the views were incredible. You could see the Wall snaking across the mountai
ns for miles and miles. It's hard to believe people built something so huge without modern tools and machinery. The Great Wall is truly an impressive feat of engineering and hard work.
    The Forbidden City
    This place is in Beijing too, right near the Great Wall. It used to be the imperial palace where China's emperors lived with their families and advisors. No ordinary people were allowed inside, which is why it's called the Forbidden City. From the outside, it looks like a magical place with bright yellow roof tiles and ornate decorations. But inside, it's like an entire city with hundreds of buildings, gardens, courtyards, and even a lake! We spent an entire day exploring and still didn't see everything. My favorite part was the fancy throne room where the emperor would sit. I got to pretend I was the emperor making important decisions. What kid doesn't dream of being royalty?
    The Terracotta Army
    This landmark is in Xi'an, which is one of the oldest cities in China. Thousands of years ago, a powerful emperor had this entire army of life-sized terracotta (clay) warrior statues buried with him when he died. They were supposed to protect him in the afterlife. Can you imagine that many statues? Each one has a unique facial expression and everything. It wasn't until the 1970s that farmers accidentally discovered the buried warriors. Now they are all dug up and on display in a huge museum. It's mind-blowing walking through the rows and rows of these ancient clay soldiers. I wonder how long it took the artists to create them all?
    The Li River
    Okay, so this one is a river, not a building or statue. But the scenery along the Li River in Guilin is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Imagine these huge karst hills with crazy shapes jutting up from the ground, with the river winding through them. Some of the hills look like giant scoops of melting ice cream! My family and I took a boat tour along the river. The boat went through scenes so pretty they looked like Chinese paintings come to lif
e. I could have spent days just staring at the incredible landscapes. No wonder this area is famous for its "air" that even smells and tastes delicious! I'll never forget the magical Li River.
    Those are four of my favorite famous landmarks in China so far. Isn't China an amazing country with such rich history and beauty? I feel really fortunate that I've gotten to experience these places with my own eyes. There are still so many other incredible sites I want to visit, like the Leshan Giant Buddha statue, the Chengdu panda reserves, and Zhangjiajie's gravity-defying rock pillars. Hopefully my family and I can take more trips around China in the future. This country is filled with wonders!

    China's Amazing Landmarks
    China is a huge country with lots of incredible sights to see. There are so many amazing landmarks scattered all across this vast land. Let me tell you about some of the most famous ones!
    The Great Wall of China is probably the landmark that first comes to mind when you think of China. This massive wall snakes across the northern part of the country for thousands of miles. It was built a really long time ago to help protect China from invaders. You can actually walk or climb along portions of the Great Wall. Imagine standing atop this ancient wonder, looking out at the beautiful mountains and valleys stretching out before you!
    Beijing is China's capital city, and it's home to some stunning landmarks like the Forbidden City. This was the imperial palace where China's emperors lived hundreds of years ago. The Forbidden City is absolutely huge, with nearly 1,000 buildings within its walls. The architecture is very ornate and colorful. One of the most iconic sights is the huge portrait of Mao Zedong that hangs at the entrance.

    The Terracotta Army is one of the most incredible archaeological finds ever made. In the 1970s, farmers digging a well stumbled upon this secret underground tomb filled with thousands of life-sized clay warrior statues! Each one is unique with distinct facial features
and details. It's mind-blowing to think these warriors stood guardover an emperor's tomb for over 2,000 years.
    Shanghai has some magnificent modern landmarks too, like the Oriental Pearl Tower. This futuristic-looking structure has space capsule observation decks that give you panoramic views over the entire city skyline. At night, the towers are lit up with dazzling lights and lasers. The Shanghai World Financial Center is another iconic skyscraper with a trapezoid-shaped hole at the top.
    Down south is the scenic area of Guilin, renowned for its striking karst hills. Huge limestone hills with wild shapes thrust up vertically from the ground, some looking like elephant trunks or humped camel backs. You can take a cruise along the Li River to drift past these otherworldly landscapes. The Longji Rice Terraces nearby are just as breathtaking, with miles of emerald green rice paddies contoured into the mountainsides.
