My Amazing Trip to the Aquarium
Hi, my name is Lily and I'm 9 years old. I want to tell you all about the best trip ever - when my family went to the huge aquarium in the city! It was the coolest place I've ever been to.
First, we had to drive for a really long time to get there. I asked Mom and Dad a million times "Are we there yet?" until they finally said yes! When we walked inside, it was like entering another world. The aquarium was so big, with tall glass tunnels you could walk through surrounded by water on all sides. I felt like I was underwater without even getting wet!
The first thing we saw were the sharks! They were swimming right over our heads. Some o
f them were massive, with big jaws and sharp teeth. I was a little scared at first, but then I remembered they couldn't get out of their tank. Phew! My little brother Tommy wasn't scared at all. He just thinks sharks are the coolest things ever.
Next, we went into the tropical reef area and oh my goodness, the colors were amazing! All the fish were so bright and pretty - yellows, pinks, oranges, blues. They looked like swimming rainbows! There were also coral reefs that seemed to glow under the special lights. I spotted a clownfish hiding amongst the coral and I couldn't help but giggle because it reminded me of Nemo from the movie.
The rainforest area was my favorite though. It was so humid and warm, with little waterfalls trickling down between the tall green plants. I saw all sorts of crazy looking reptiles like snakes, lizards and frogs. Some had funky patterns while others were super bright colors to scare off predators. The tanks were full of branches, rocks and leaves to make it look just like a real rainforest. I half expected to see Tarzan swinging on a vine!
We spent so much time in that section because around every corner there was somethin
g new and fascinating to look at. One tank just had piranhas and you could see their razor-sharp teeth! Another had an electric eel that actually seemed to light up. So cool! The rainforest frogs were adorable too - some were tiny, smaller than my thumb, while others were huge. Tommy and I had a contest to see who could spot the most different animals.
After the rainforest, we wandered through areas for polar animals and marine mammals. We saw playful sea otters cracking open clams on their bellies, cute little penguins waddling around on the rocks, and beautiful beluga whales doing tricks for their trainers. Watching a walrus having his teeth brushed by his trainer was pretty funny too!
By that time, we were getting tired and hungry. Luckily, the aquarium had a fun underwater-themed restaurant where you could eat surrounded by a giant tank filled with sharks, rays, and reef fish. While we chowed down on chicken nuggets and fries, we got to watch fish the size of small cars cruise past the glass! A diver even swam by and waved at us from inside the tank.
On the way out, we had to go through the gift shop (as if Mom and Dad would ever pass
that up!). I begged them to get me a stuffed shark which they finally agreed to. Tommy got a penguin plushie that he loved. I also picked out some shark tooth necklaces for me and my BFF Emily.
We had such an incredibly awesome day! As we were driving home, I couldn't stop talking about everything we saw and did. The aquarium was like nothing I've ever experienced before. Who knew learning about oceans, lakes and rain forests could be so crazy fun? I'm already bugging Mom and Dad to take me back again soon. If you ever get a chance to go, you absolutely should - it's amazing!

One Awesome Day at the Zoo!
Wow, did I have the best day ever when my class went on a field trip to the amazing city zoo! I could barely sleep the night before because I was so excited. I love animals more than anything and I've always wanted to see all the different kinds up close.
When we got to the zoo, the first thing I noticed were all the tall trees and bright, colorful flowers everywhere. It felt like we were in a jungle adventure! Our teacher told us we were going to start in the North America section to see animals from our own continent.
The first exhibit we went to had huge buffalo lazily munching on grass. They seemed pretty chill but I wouldn't want to get too close - those horns looked sharp! Next were the majestic elk with their giant antlers. A few of them were lying down and looked so peaceful. I wish I could take a nap in the soft grass like they were.
After that, we saw a family of adorable black bears playing and wrestling with each other. They looked funny rolling around and would suddenly stop and sniff the air. The grizzly bear enclosure was right next door and those massive guys were a lot less playful. I'm glad there was a strong fence between us!
