Be sure that you know which types of orders your broker accepts.Different brokers accept different types of orders.

There are some basic order types that all brokers provide and some others that sound weird.

A market order is an order to buy or sell at the best available price.
市价定单(Market Order)是按市场当时最优价或市价立即购买或出售一定数量合约的指令。For example,the bid price for EUR/USD is currently at1.2140and the ask price is at1.2142.If you wanted to buy EUR/USD at market,then it would be sold to you at the ask price of1.2142. You would click buy and your trading platform would instantly execute a buy order at that exact price.

A limit entry is an order placed to either buy below the market or sell above the market at a certain price.
限价定单(Limit Entry Order)，即在低于市价的点位设置买单，或在高于市价的某一点位设置卖单。当汇价达到所设定价格目标时，单子将自动执行，否则，将不被执行。（类似于抓顶或抄底）
For example,EUR/USD is currently trading at1.2050.You want to go short if the price reaches 1.2070.You can either sit in front of your monitor and wait for it to hit1.2070(at which point you would click a sell market order),or you can set a sell limit order at1.2070(then you could walk away from your computer to attend your ballroom dancing class).
比如说，欧元/美元当前汇价为1.2050。你打算在汇价达到1.2070的时候做空，此时，你有两种选择：要么坐在电脑前等着汇价涨到1.2070再市价做空，要么在1.2070设置限价订单，随后，你远离电脑，等待系统自动执行订单。
If the price goes up to1.2070,your trading platform will automatically execute a sell order at the
best available price.

You use this type of entry order when you believe price will reverse upon hitting the price you specified!

Stop-Entry Order
自设停损单
A stop-entry order is an order placed to buy above the market or sell below the market at a certain price.
自设停损单(Stop Entry Order)，即你在高于市价的点位设置买单，或在低于市价的某一点位设置卖单。（类似于追涨或杀跌）
For example,GBP/USD is currently trading at1.5050and is heading upward.You believe that price will continue in this direction if it hits1.5060.You can do one of the following to play this belief:sit in front of your computer and buy at market when it hits1.5060OR set a stop-entry order at1.5060.You use stop-entry orders when you feel that price will move in one direction!
比如说，英镑/美元当前价格是1.5050，且正处在上升趋势中。你相信，如果价格在触及1.5060，仍将继续上行。此时，你也有两种选择：第一、坐在电脑旁，当汇价达到1.5060时市价买入，或者，选择自设停损单，当你感觉价格将朝着当前价格继续运行时，你在1.5060设置止损买单。
Stop-Loss Order
止损定单
A stop-loss order is a type of order linked to a trade for the purpose of preventing additional losses if price goes against you.REMEMBER THIS TYPE OF ORDER.A stop-loss order remains in effect until the position is liquidated or you cancel the stop-loss order.
设置止损定单(Stop-Loss Order)的目的在于，如果价格朝着你判断的方向相反波动时，你能够及时避免额外的损失。请牢牢记住这一类型的定单。在你的头寸被了结，或你取消掉止损单之前，止损单将一直有效。
For example,you went long(buy)EUR/USD at1.2230.To limit your maximum loss,you set a stop-loss order at1.2200.This means if you were dead wrong and EUR/USD drops to1.2200 instead of moving up,your trading platform would automatically execute a sell order at1.2200the best available price and close out your position for a30-pip loss(eww!).
比如说，你打算在1.2230做多欧元/美元。为限制你的最大损失，你在1.2200设置止损定单。这意味着，如果你的方向判断错误，欧元/美元跌破1.2200，你的交易平台将会自动为你在1.2200执行卖单，并自动锁定30点的损失。
Stop-losses are extremely useful if you don’t want to sit in front of your monitor all day worried that you will lose all your money.You can simply set a stop-loss order on any open positions so you won’t miss your basket weaving class or elephant polo game.

Trailing Stop
移动止损
A trailing stop is a type of stop-loss order attached to a trade that moves as price fluctuates.
移动止损(Trailing Stop)，即所设置的止损点位随着价格的波动而不断变动。
Let’s say that you’ve decided to short USD/JPY at90.80,with a trailing stop of20pips.This
means that originally,your stop loss is at91.00.If price goes down and hits90.50,your trailing stop would move down to90.70.
比如说，你打算在90.80做空美元/日元，并设置20点的移动止损。这意味着，在最初，你的止损位在91.00，如果价格跌至90.50，那么你的止损位就变为90.70。
Just remember though,that your stop will STAY at this price.It will not widen if price goes against you.Going back to the example,with a trailing stop of20pips,if USD/JPY hits90.50, then your stop would move to90.70.However,if price were to suddenly move up to90.60,your stop would remain at90.70.

Your trade will remain open as long as price does not move against you by20pips.Once price hits your trailing stop,a stop-loss order will be triggered and your position will be closed.
只要价格的变动和你判断的方向保持一致，或者即使和你判断方向相反，但是并未达到20点，你的单子将始终有效。一旦价格达到移动止损位，则自动触发止损订单，那么，你将会自动平仓。

Good‘Till Cancelled(GTC)

A GTC order remains active in the market until you decide to cancel it.Your broker will not cancel the order at any time.Therefore it’s your responsibility to remember that you have the order scheduled.
GTC订单(Good‘Till Cancelled)即，在你决取消该订单之前，该订单将一直有效。你的经纪商在任何时候都不能取消这一订单。
Good for the Day(GFD)
当日有效定单(GFD)
A GFD order remains active in the market until the end of the trading day.Because foreign exchange is a24-hour market,this usually means5:00pm EST since that’s the time U.S.markets close,but we’d recommend you double check with your broker.
GFD定单(Good for the Day)在本交易日结束之前始终有效。因为外汇市场是24小时不间断交易市场，这通常意味着，在纽约市场闭市后，该订单将会自动作废。但是，我们建议你和你的经纪商确认这一情况。
One-Cancels-the-Other(OCO)

An OCO order is a mixture of two entry and/or stop-loss orders.Two orders with price and duration variables are placed above and below the current price.When one of the orders is executed the other order is canceled.
选择性委托订单(One-Cancels-the-Other)两个止损订单的混合物。，以保证这两种定单中的一种被执行时，另一种将自动作废。
Let’s say the price of EUR/USD is1.2040.You want to either buy at1.2095over the resistance level in anticipation of a breakout or initiate a selling position if the price falls below1.1985.The understanding is that if1.2095is reached,your buy order will be triggered and the1.1985sell order will be automatically canceled.

One-Triggers-the-Other
OTO定单
An OTO is the opposite of the OCO,as it only puts on orders when the parent order is triggered. You set an OTO order when you want to set profit taking and stop loss levels ahead of time,even before you get in a trade.
OTO定单(One-Triggers-the-Other)，即当前的定单被触发后，才有可能触发OTO定单。当你打算提前设置好获利目标和止损目标，甚至在你进行交易之前就已想好这么做，那么你能够设置OTO定单。
For example,USD/CHF is currently trading at1.2000.You believe that once it hits1.2100,it will reverse and head downwards but only up to1.1900.The problem is that you will be gone for an entire week because you have to join a basket weaving competition at the top of Mt.Fiji where there is no internet.
比如说，美元/瑞郎当前汇率是1.2000。你相信，一旦汇价触及1.2100走势将转向，但最多只会跌至1.1900。问题是，你将外出旅行一星期，而且这一周时间你都接触不到网络。
In order to catch the move while you are away,you set a sell limit at1.2000and at the same time, place a related buy limit at1.1900,and just in case,place a stop-loss at1.2100.As an OTO,both the buy limit and the stop-loss orders will only be placed if your initial sell order at1.2000gets triggered.
为了抓住你所判断的这一波行情，你能够在1.2000设置限价卖出订单，与此同时，在1.1900设置限价买
入订单，并在1.2100设置止损单。在OTO定单中，如果1.2000的卖单触发，那么限价买入订单和止损订单都有可能被执行。

The basic order types(market,limit entry,stop-entry,stop loss,and trailing stop)are usually all that most traders ever need.

Unless you are a veteran trader(don’t worry,with practice and time you will be),don’t get fancy and design a system of trading requiring a large number of orders sandwiched in the market at all times.

Stick with the basic stuff first.

Also,always check with your broker for specific order information and to see if any rollover fees will be applied if a position is held longer than one day.Keeping your ordering rules simple is the best strategy.
