Suggestions: The Key to a Better World
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm an 8th grader at Oakwood Middle School. Today, I want to talk to you all about the power of suggestions. You might be thinking, "Jamie, what could be so important about suggestions? Isn't it just telling people what to do?" Well, you'd be wrong!
Suggestions are way more than that. They're about looking at situations from new angles and coming up with ideas to make things better. And I think making things better is super important if we want to create a world we all enjoy living in.
Let me give you an example from my own life. Last year, my math class was pretty boring.
We'd just sit there while the teacher lectured and then we'd do a bunch of practice problems from the textbook. I found myself zoning out a lot and not really learning much. The whole experience felt tedious and unrewarding.
One day, I had a suggestion. I raised my hand and said "What if we did more interactive activities and games related to the math concepts? That could make it more fun and help the lessons stick better." At first, my teacher seemed unsure. But after I explained how we could turn math concepts into simple classroom games and competitions, she decided to give it a try.
And you know what? It worked amazingly! Suddenly, instead of dreading math class, I looked forward to it. The games made me think critically about the math while having a blast with my friends. My grades improved, and so did my attitude. All because of one little suggestion.
That's just a small example, but I think it shows how suggestions can lead to positive changes, even in something as basic as a classroom. Which got me thinking - if we can im
prove our schools with suggestions, why not everything else too?
Imagine if we approached our communities, our governments, our world, with the mindset of "How can we make this better?" and offered up sincere suggestions. Contributions don't have to be complicated or revolutionary. They can be small, reasonable ideas that just make things work a little more smoothly.
Like what if we suggested having more public trash cans and recycling bins around our neighborhoods to cut down on litter? Or suggested that companies use more recyclable packaging to reduce plastic waste? Or suggested that the city build more public parks and green spaces for people to relax in nature?
These are just a few basic examples, but they show how listening to the suggestions of regular people and implementing changes based on those suggestions could lead to cleaner environments, more sustainable practices, and an overall higher quality of life for everyone. All just by sharing ideas and being open to advice.
Maybe a group of students has a suggestion for updating their school's outdated computer lab. Maybe a working parent has an idea for a new community program to support families in need. Maybe a senior citizen has feedback on how to make the local parks more accessible. Every perspective is valuable because every person's experiences are different.
By creating an environment where suggestions are not only allowed but actively encouraged and applied, we can crowdsource solutions to problems more effectively. We can nurture an innovative, collaborative spirit that leads to ongoing positive changes for our schools, towns, nations, and the world at large.
I know it's easy to think "I'm just a kid, what do I know? Who's going to listen to my silly suggestions anyway?" But that's where you'd be wrong again! Kids can be some of the most creative and free thinkers around because we don't have as many of the same biases and preconceptions that adults sometimes do. We see things through a different lens shaped by our unique experiences growing up in this modern world.
sort out your computer翻译    So don't ever be afraid to politely make a suggestion, no matter how young or old you are. Express it respectfully and be open to discussing and refining it. And likewise, don't dismiss someone else's ideas out of hand just because of their age or circumstances. Who knows? Their innovative suggestion could be the one that improves part of your life tremendously.
The main thing is creating a culture where suggesting ways to do better isn't criticized or shut down, but encouraged and built upon through continued open dialogue. Because subtle,  reasonable suggestions combined together can accumulate into transformative changes over time.
If we all collaborate with empathy and optimism, sharing our unique perspectives while remaining open to the thought-provoking ideas of others, I'm certain we can improve our world step-by-step. Suggestions are opportunities for positive growth and progress. So let's maximize that potential and work together to make our communities, societies, and planet a little better every day through the power of suggestion.
