My Thoughts on Package Tours
Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today I wanted to share my thoughts on package tours, which are those pre-planned trips where everything is taken care of for you by a travel company. I've been on a few of these with my family and I have some opinions to express!
First off, I really enjoy not having to plan every little detail when we go on a package tour. My parents used to spend forever poring over maps, looking up hotels, reading reviews of attractions, and stressing about transportation. With a package deal, it's all mapped out for us - the hotels are booked, we have an itinerary of which sites we'll visit each day, tour guides to show us around, and buses or trains to get us from place to place. It's very conveni
sort out例句ent and takes a huge load off my parents' shoulders.
Another great thing about package tours is that we get to see all the biggest and best attractions without having to figure out the logistics ourselves. The travel companies know exactly which spots are the must-sees in each destination. In Rome, our package included visiting the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Vatican. In Paris, we went up in the Eiffel Tower, saw the Louvre museum, wandered the charming Montmartre neighborhood, and took a cruise along the Seine river. I felt like we got to experience all the iconic things you're supposed to do in those cities.
Plus, the tour guides they provide are super knowledgeable about the history and culture of the places we visit. They can explain the significance of the sites in a way that brings them alive and helps us appreciate them more deeply. Our guide in Athens, Georgia, taught us all about Greek mythology as we toured the ruins of ancient temples. It was like we traveled back in time!
That said, I do have some criticisms of package tours as well. One downside is that they
can feel a bit rushed and impersonal at times. With such carefully scheduled itineraries, we are often hurrying from one attraction to the next with little free time to explore on our own. While I enjoy the guided portions, I sometimes wish we had more unstructured leisure time to wander, shop, and make our own discoveries. The tours can also be quite large with dozens of other travelers, which makes it less intimate than going off-the-beaten-path with just my family.
Another drawback is that package tours don't allow for as much flexibility or spontaneity. We are locked into a set schedule of activities, hotels, meals, and transportation decided months in advance by the travel company. This means we can't easily adjust our plans if we hear about an amazing festival happening nearby, if we want to linger someplace longer than scheduled, or if weather disrupts the itinerary. With independent travel, we could be more free-spirited and go-with-the-flow as opportunities arise.
My family also finds that package tours tend to usher you through destinations quite quickly, only skimming the surface. For example, our Italy tour provided just a half-day in V
enice squeezed between other cities. While we got to see St. Mark's Square, take a gondola ride, and snap some pics near the canals, we barely had a chance to soak up the unique Venetian atmosphere and culture. For me, having such limited exposure to a place leaves me feeling unsatisfied and like I've missed the deeper experience.
Overall though, I'm still a fan of package tours, at least for now while I'm young. They take so much stress off my parents, expose me to incredible bucket-list destinations, and let me sightsee very efficiently. As I get older though, I can see myself wanting to plan more open-ended, immersive trips where I can travel at my own pace and create my own adventure. But for family vacations while I'm still a kid, bring on those all-inclusive packages!
Those are my thoughts after having been on quite a few guided tours with my parents over the years. Have you ever experienced this type of travel yourself? What did you think of the pros and cons? I'd love to hear your perspective! No matter if you love or hate package tours though, I just feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to explore our amazin
g world. Getting to visit new places, experience different cultures, and create memories with my family is priceless. Happy travels!
