    In the evenings, my family is really busy doing all sorts of things. After dinner, my dad usually goes into his home office to work on his computer for a little while. My mom likes to watch her favorite shows on TV and knit or crochet while she watches.
    My older brother is always playing video games or talking to his friends online. He has a hard time concentrating on his homework until really late at night. My older sister spends a lot of time on her phone, texting and using social media apps like Instagram and TikTok.
    As for me, I like to play with my toys or read books before bedtime. Sometimes I'll play board games or do puzzles with my parents if they aren't too busy. On school nights, I have to finish all my homework first before I can have any fun. Evening times are lively at my house with everyone doing their own things!

    What My Family Does at Night
    Night time is my favorite part of the day because that's when my whole family is home together. After dinner, we all have different activities we like to do before bedtime. Let me tell you about what each person in my family usually does in the evenings.
    My dad is a really hard worker, so after getting home from his job at the office, he likes to relax by watching TV shows or movies. Sometimes he'll watch the news to learn about what's happening in the world. Other times he chooses comedy shows that make him laugh out loud. My mom says he has a goofy sense of humor! When there's a big sports game on, like baseball or football, dad is glued to the TV screaming at the players. I have to cover my ears sometimes because he gets so loud and excited.
    My mom doesn't really watch much TV. Instead, she prefers to read books or magazines in the living room while sipping a cup of tea. She's a fast reader and can finish a whole nov
el in just a couple nights. She belongs to a book club too, so some nights she has to read the assigned book to get ready for her meeting. Mom says reading helps her relax after a busy day taking care of me and my little brother.
    Speaking of my brother Tommy, he's only 5 years old. In the evenings, he just wants to play and have fun! Sometimes we'll play games like Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders together on the floor. Other times we'll build things out of his Lego set or color in his coloring books with crayons. Tommy has a ton of energy, so mom and dad have to make sure he runs around and gets good exercise during nighttime playtime. That way he'll be all tuckered out and ready for bed when it's his bedtime at 8pm. I try to help wear him out by chasing him around the house pretending to be a monster!
    As for me, I'm 8 years old so I get to stay up a little later than Tommy. After he goes to bed, I usually work on my homework if I have any. Math is my hardest subject, so I spend a lot of time going over math worksheets and assignments. My parents help me when I get stuck on a really tricky problem. Once my homework is done, I get to have screen time to pl
ay learning games on the tablet or watch videos. I especially love watching science videos because I want to be a scientist when I grow up to study dinosaurs or explore outer space. Some nights I even get to video chat with my grandparents to tell them about my day before getting ready for bed.
    We may all do different activities, but nighttime is my favorite because it's family time. I feel safe, loved, and happy when we're all together at home.     Did you ever wonder what your family does when the sun goes down? Well, let me tell you about the fun and sometimes crazy things my family gets up to in the evenings!
    First up is my mom. After she gets home from work and we've had dinner, she likes to relax by reading books or watching her favorite TV shows. But be careful if you interrupt her during her "me time" – she might get a little grumpy! Sometimes though, she does let me join her on the couch to snuggle up and read together. Those are my favorite evenings.
    My dad is a different story. He's got way too much energy to just sit around after dinner.     Speaking of my brother Jake, that kid never stops moving! As soon as he's done with homework, he's racing off to his room to play video games with his friends online. They get pretty loud when they're battling monsters and blasting aliens. Mom is always telling them to keep it down. But Jake says a real warrior has to gave a fierce roar! On other nights, he'll drag me outside to practice soccer moves. He's teaching me some wicked dribbling skills.
