Phones, Phones Everywhere!
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to talk to you about something that's been on my mind a lot lately – mobile phones! Seems like everywhere I go, I see kids my age glued to their phones. At the park, in the car, even at birthday parties! It's gotten kind of crazy if you ask me.
Don't get me wrong, I think phones can be really cool and useful. I like being able to play games, watch videos, and text with my friends on mine sometimes. But I've noticed that a lot of kids, including some of my friends, seem to be on their phones wayyyy too much. Like, all the time!
Just the other day, I was at the movies with my friend Tyler. We were really excited to see the new superhero movie that just came out. But during the whole film, Tyler had his phone out and was barely even watching! He was too busy playing some game and texting his other friends. I was so annoyed and tried to tell him to put it away, but he just ignored me. What's even the point of going to the movies if you're not going to watch?
At school, things are just as bad. Our teacher is always telling kids to put their phones away during class because they keep getting distracted. Instead of listening or working on assignments, they're scrolling through social media or watching videos. I can't even count how many times I've seen someone's phone get taken away because they couldn't stop playing with it. So disruptive!
Even at home, my little sister is always begging to use my mom's phone or iPad to watch videos and play games. She throws a total fit if my parents try to take it away from her. My parents are starting to get really worried that she's too obsessed with screens and isn't playing or using her imagination enough. I kind of get it – when I was her age, my favorite t
hings were coloring, playing make-believe, and running around outside. Not just sitting there zoning out on a phone all day!
I really think kids my age and younger need to put down their phones more often. Sure, a little phone use here and there is fine. But from what I've seen, a lot of us have taken it way too far. We're missing out on actually living our lives and experiencing the world around us because our noses are constantly buried in those little screens.
Instead of being on our phones during fun activities like going to the movies or hanging out with friends, we should actually be paying attention and enjoying the moment! Putting the phones away at school would help us focus better and learn more. And at home, we'd have a lot more free time to read, play, use our creativity, and spend quality time with our families.
I'm definitely going to start making an effort to cut back on how much I use my phone. It's just not worth it to be that consumed by technology and detached from reality, you know? I want to experience my childhood to the fullest, without constantly being tied to a device. I'm
going to start by giving myself a daily time limit, and making sure to keep my phone away during mealtimes, when I'm hanging out with friends, and maybe even banning it from my bedroom at night so I can get better sleep.
Maybe I'll even get my friends on board and we can have more phone-free hangouts where we actually talk and play together instead of ignoring each other to stare at screens. If more kids became aware of how excessive and unhealthy our phone habits have become, I think we'd all be a lot happier and more present. Our childhoods should be about having fun, using our imaginations, and making real-life memories – not being trapped behind a glass screen 24/7.
So that's my take on the whole mobile phone craze, at least from a kid's perspective! Phones can be cool, but they've also taken over our lives way too much. It's time to

Mobile phones are super cool gadgets that let us play games, watch videos, and chat with friends. But if we use them too much, it can be really bad for us.
My friend Johnny is always on his phone, even during class! He doesn't pay attention to the teacher and his grades have dropped. His eyes also hurt from looking at the small screen all day.
Mom and Dad had to set strict rules about phone time because I was neglecting my homework and chores. Now I only get an hour of screen time after finishing my work.
Excessive phone use can make us anti-social, give us headaches, and affect our studies. While phones are fun, we need to use them in moderation. It's important to spend time on other activities like reading, exercising, and playing outside too. A little discipline can go a long way in making sure we don't become phone zombies!

My Thoughts on Too Much Phone Time
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm a 4th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to talk to you about something that's been on my mind a lot lately – using our phone
s and tablets too much. I've noticed it with my friends, my family, and even myself sometimes. It's like we can't go five minutes without checking Instagram, playing games, or watching YouTube videos!
