    My School Then and Now
    My school sure has changed a lot in the last 5 years! Back when I was in 1st grade, everything seemed so different.

    The building itself looked pretty old and run-down back then. The paint was chipping off the walls, the floors were all scuffed up, and the windows were kind of drafty and let in a lot of cold air in the winter. But they recently renovated everything and now it looks brand spankin' new! They repainted all the walls in bright, fun colors, put in new floors that are smooth and shiny, and got new windows that keep out the cold. The whole place just has a much fresher, cleaner vibe now.
    The playground also used to be pretty lame - just an old rusty slide, a couple of swings, and some old tires to play on. We didn't have any cool climbing stuff or really safe ground covering. It was just a bed of rocks which wasn't too fun if you fell down! But they installed a brand new playground a couple years ago with so much awesome stuff - monkey bars, a rock climbing wall, spinny things, seesaw, and more! And instead of rocks, they put down this spongy rubber ground covering that's really soft if you jump off something. The playground is 100% more fun now.
    The technology at the school has upgraded a ton too. We used to just have one computer lab with like 20 super outdated desktop computers. Half of them wouldn't even work half the time! But now, every classroom has a SMART board and the latest laptop and tablet computers for us to use. We're definitely a lot more up-to-date on technology now.
    The library also went through a huge makeover. They got rid of all the old, shabby bookshelves and damaged books and replaced them with brand new shelves and books. They added in cozy reading nooks with beanbags and printed out new colorful labels for all the sections. It's such a more inviting and organized space now for reading and learning.
    Another major upgrade was to the gymnasium and athletic equipment. Five years ago, we just had a falling-apart basketball hoop, some gross old gym mats that smelled funny, and a few miscellaneous balls and jump ropes. It was not a great space for PE class or having indoor recess on rainy days. Now they installed a fancy new wood floor, brought in all new mats and equipment like weights, resistance bands, and exercise balls, and even got climbing ropes and a small indoor running track! Getting exercise is way more fun now.
    I'd say the biggest change though has been to the cafeteria and the food they serve. When I first started school, the cafe was a dirty, smelly place with just a couple of long tables to sit at. And the food was just so gross and unhealthy - greasy pizza, frozen corn dogs, chicken nuggets that looked kind of questionable. There was never any fresh fruit or veggies. These days, the whole cafeteria has been remodeled to be bright and clean with new furniture and decor. And they've totally revamped the lunch menu to be much more nutritious with lots of healthy choices like salad bars, fresh fruits and veggies, whole wheat bread, and lean protein like grilled chicken and lentils. I'm certainly not complaining about the new lunches!
    While my school still has some of the same teachers and principals, just about everything else looks brand new these days compared to how it was 5 years ago. All of the renovations and upgrades have really transformed it into a top-notch place to learn and play. I feel pretty lucky to have such a nice modern school to attend every day. Who knows what else will change and improve in the next 5 years? I'm excited to see!

    My School: Then and Now
    My school has changed a lot in the last five years. When I first started going there, it felt really big and scary. The hallways seemed to go on forever and the older kids looked like giants! Now that I'm one of the bigger kids, it doesn't seem quite so enormous anymore.
    Five years ago, the playground was pretty boring. There was an old rusty slide, some swings that creaked, and a big open field of grass. We spent most recesses just running around playing tag or making up games with the jump ropes and balls we brought from ho
me. Last year though, they installed some awesome new playground equipment! There's a huge climbing structure with tubes, bridges, and even a rock wall. There are also these spinning cup things that are super fun, and a big merry-go-round that can fit like 20 kids at once. Recess is a million times better now.
    The classrooms used to look really plain with just simple desks, chalkboards, and a few posters on the walls. They've gotten a lot more colorful and interesting. Instead of chalkboards, we now have huge interactive whiteboards that can connect to the internet. The desks are different shapes and bright colors, not just the same old brown ones. The rooms have cozy reading corners with pillows and bean bags. And there are so many more educational posters, maps, and decorations covering the walls now

ars ago, my school looked very different. The classrooms were old and the walls were plain white. We didn't have many computers, and the playground was small.
    But now, my school has changed a lot! The classrooms have been renovated and they look so colorful and lively. We have a smartboard in every classroom, and we use computers for our lessons. The walls are decorated with beautiful artwork made by the students.
