    Robots Are Coming to Our Homes!
    Hi everyone! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you all about how robots are starting to show up in our homes and families. It's such a cool and exciting thing!
    First of all, what even is a robot? A robot is a machine that can move around and do tasks automatically without a person controlling it directly. Robots have motors, sensors, and computer programs that let them move, sense their environment, and make decisions about what actions to take.
    Robots have been around for a long time in factories and other workplaces. They can put t
ogether cars, pack boxes, weld metal, and do all sorts of tasks much faster and more accurately than humans can. But just recently, robots have started becoming advanced and affordable enough for regular families to have them in their homes!
    One of the first home robots was the Roomba vacuum cleaner made by a company called iRobot. The first Roomba came out in 2002 and it could automatically vacuum your floors without you having to push it around. It uses sensors to map out a room, brushes to clean up dirt and dust, and a rechargeable battery. My family got a Roomba a few years ago and it's awesome! We can just press a button and let it do its thing while we relax.
    But Roombas are just the start. There are so many other home robots coming out these days for all kinds of chores and tasks. There are robot mowers that can automatically mow your lawn, robots that clean windows and gutters, even robots that can load the dishwasher! How cool is that?

What if it broke something expensive or hurt someone by accident? Those are things we'll have to be really careful about as robots become more common.
    But overall, I'm super excited about robots entering our homes and families! Having machines that can do lots of boring chores and tasks for us sounds absolutely awesome to me. Of course, we can't rely on them for everything. Human interaction and care will alway
