Manyue is a little girl. Her father died of a serious illness, AIDS. He caught it from a blood transjusion (输⾎）. Her mother also fell sick with the same illness. One day, Grandpa Wang took Manyue to the hospital to see her mother. Her mother looked pale (苍⽩的）and tired. She said, “My dear child, I’m going to leave you soon. I will stay with your father.” “Can I go with you?” Manyue asked. Mom said softly, “Your father is too far away and you are too young to go there, but we will come back to see you on the night with a full moon.”
Not long after Manyue’s visit, her mother began her journey (旅程）to see her dad.
