    My Favorite Season
    I absolutely love spring! It's my favorite time of year for so many reasons. The weather is just perfect - not too hot and not too cold. The sun starts shining more, making everything look so bright and cheerful. It's like the world is waking up from a long winter's nap.
    One of the best parts of spring is watching all the baby animals being born. Our neighbors have a small farm and every year, they get new lambs, chicks, and calves. They are the cutest, fluffiest little things! I love going over to their farm and watching the babies run around and play. The lambs are especially fun to watch as they jump and frolic in the fields. My friends and I call them the "bouncing cotton balls"!
    Another great thing about spring is that all the plants and trees come back to life. The grass turns this vibrant shade of green again and the bare branches sprout millions of new leaves. My mom's garden really thrives in the spring too. She grows all sorts of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, beans, and peppers. I like helping her plant the seeds and seedlings. Watching them grow from tiny specks into big, bountiful plants is amazing.
    Springtime also means lots of fun activities and holidays to look forward to. There's Easter egg hunts and decorating eggs with my family. We have a big neighborhood Easter egg hunt every year in the park and the person who finds the most eggs wins a huge chocolate bunny! Then there's Earth Day in April where our class does special projects and activities to learn about taking care of the planet. My teacher brings in tomato seedlings for us to plant and take home to grow our own tomatoes.
    Once March rolls around, that means it's finally warm enough to go back to the community pool. I love basking in the sun and splashing around in the water after being cooped up inside all winter long. Emily and I have already promised to have at least one po
ol party at her house this spring. We're going to make fruit smoothies, play loud music, and just soak up as much sun as we can!
    Another amazingly fun thing we get to do in spring is go strawberry picking. There's this huge strawberry field about 20 minutes away from my house that opens up for picking in late May. My family goes at least twice to stock up on fresh, juicy strawberries. We eat strawberry shortcake, strawberry milkshakes, strawberries with u name it! I probably eat my weight in strawberries every spring. Totally worth the tummy ache though!
    There are also some critters that come back out in spring that I'm not so thrilled about. Like bees and wasps buzzing around everywhere. I've been stung before and it's the worst! Snakes are another springtime pest that creep me out. They like to sun themselves on warm rocks so you have to be super careful, especially if you're out hiking. Yuck!
    But even with those few negatives, spring is still by far my favorite season. I just love the energy and feeling of rebirth and renewal in the air. It's like Mother Nature is hitting the rese
t button and allowing the world to start fresh and new again. Those first warm, sunny days after such a long, dreary winter feel like pure magic. Spring is a time for adventures, exploring the outdoors, and just feeling joyful to be alive. You can keep your summer, winter, and fall - I'll take spring any day!

    My Favorite Animal
    My favorite animal is the dolphin. Dolphins are so cool! They are really smart and can do tricks. I love watching them jump out of the water.
    I first learned about dolphins when we went to the aquarium last year. I saw them swimming and playing in the big tank. The guide told us that dolphins are mammals, not fish. That means they breathe air and have babies instead of laying eggs. I thought that was super interesting!

Killer whales are very intelligent and live in family groups called pods. I saw a whole killer whale pod at the aquarium and they were incredible.
    Dolphins are really smart, which is why they are my favorite animal. Their brains are so big compared to other animals. Scientists say dolphins might even be smarter than chimpanzees! They can understand instructions and learn behaviors very quickly. Some dolphins can even mimic human voices and copy words we say.
