Should firecrackers and fireworks be banned in cities during the Spring Festival?
Customarily, people like to set off firecrackers in every festival, no matter what the festival is. However, firecrackers nowadays have caused a great number of problems which led to serious economic losses. Although setting off firecrackers is a tradition since the ancient time, we should ban firecrackers in this modern city.
Setting off firecrackers will give rise to a series of environmental problems. When firecrackers are burning, different kinds of poisonous gases will be released into the city, which causes air pollution. Because of the economic development, many industries of different types spring up day by day. The gases from these industries have turned our blue sky into dark haze. The pollution from the burning firecrackers makes it worse. The city has to spend a lot of money and manual labor to relieve the pressure of the pollution. However, the city cannot solve these problems fast enough to catch up with the speed of the pollution. When firecrackers are burned to the ground, people will never deal with the rubbish. Every day, the city needs to dispose of hundreds of thousands of tons of garbage. As a result, it has to spend extra money to employ people and try hard to solve these problems.
Firecrackers can add up to joyous atmosphere to the festival. However, in some sense, firecrackers are meaningless and are waste of money. People do not set off fire to celebrate the festival. Firecrackers are a kind of form to celebrate the festival. Every industry has the reason why it exists. Firecrackers give people nothing but emotional happiness. People can have many alternative things to replace firecrackers, which will produce the same effect. Therefore, existence of the firecrackers line is meaningless. Money spent on firecrackers can be put into other innovative industries. Against the backdrop of the globalization, the city needs to make contributions to developing the industry which benefits both people and society.
Firecrackers will damage our environment and in turn large amount of money will be spent to slove the problem. Why should we waste money to develop this industry without any real benefit to us? Considering these factors, we should ban firecrackers and firework in the city.
