    Spring is Coming!
    I love when spring comes around! It's my favorite season. Everything starts blooming and it gets warm again after the freezing cold winter. I can't wait for spring break so I don't have to go to school for a whole week!
    The first sign of spring for me is when the trees start growing little buds on their branches. It's like they are waking up from a long winter nap. Then those buds open up into pretty green leaves. My backyard starts to look alive again instead of just bare branches sticking up.
    Next, the flowers start popping up from the ground. Tulips, daffodils, and crocuses are som
e of the first ones I see. They brighten up the yards and gardens with splashes of red, yellow, purple, and other colors. I love the different bright shades and patterns on them.
    When I smell the fresh floral scents in the air, I know spring is really here! The bees start buzzing around pollinating all the new blooms. You can hear birds chirping and see them building nests in the trees. The squirrels chase each other around the branches. Everything outside just seems more alive and energetic.
    My favorite springtime activity is flying kites! When it's breezy and sunny out, I take my kite to the park near my house. I run around trying to get it up in the air and watch it soar and dip across the bright blue sky. The park is so green and full of people having picnics or walking their dogs. Everyone seems happier in the spring.
    Another thing I love is not having to wear a big heavy coat everywhere. I get to break out my t-shirts, shorts, and sandals again. No more bundling up in hats, gloves, and scarves! I can ride my bike or go on long walks without freezing. The sunlight feels so warm and refreshing.
    Of course, spring also means I have to help my mom with yardwork. We have to rake up all the dead leaves from winter and plant new flowers. I don't mind too much though because it means I get to play outside more. We turn on the sprinklers so the grass gets green again. Our yard begins to look bright and colorful like all the others on our street.
    Spring is basically nature's way of reminding us how amazing the world is. I feel lucky that I get to experience the seasonal changes every year. Fall and winter can seem kind of drab and gloomy. But then spring comes along and everything is renewed with energy, vibrancy, and life! Those are the reasons why spring is 100% my favorite time of year.

    Yay, spring is finally here! After such a long, cold winter it's so nice to feel the warm sun and see all the pretty flowers blooming. Spring is definitely my favorite season of the whole year.
    The best part about spring is playing outside without needing a heavy coat, hat, gloves or boots. It's just warm enough to wear shorts and a t-shirt. My friends and I have been spending every day after school in the park. We play on the swings, climb the jungle gym, and run around chasing each other. Sometimes we bring a ball and play catch or kickball if there's an open field. The park always seems so alive in spring compared to the winter when everything was frozen over.
    Another great thing about spring is how pretty everything looks. All the trees have brand new green leaves after being bare branches all winter. My neighbor's cherry tree is covered in beautiful pink blossoms. There are tulips, daffodils, and other colorful flowers popping up everywhere you look. I love watching the bees buzz around collecting nectar. Spring makes the whole neighborhood look vibrant and cheerful.
    Of course, there are some not-so-great parts of spring too. Like allergies - my eyes get really itchy and I sneeze a lot from all the pollen in the air. And when it rains everything gets super muddy and my mom doesn't let me play outside because she thinks I'll track dirt all through the house. Rain puddles are fun to splash in though!
    One of my favorite traditions is celebrating Easter in the spring. My family always gets together for a big meal with ham, mashed potatoes, veggies, and mom's delicious lemon cake for dessert. After eating we have an Easter egg hunt in the backyard where my parents hide plastic eggs filled with candy or coins. My little sister and cousins decorate eggs with stickers, paints and crayons too. So much fun!
    Another thing I like doing in spring is going on hikes with my dad. He takes me to trails in the forest preserves and we look for early wildflowers like trilliums and violets peeking through the leaves. Sometimes we spot deer, squirrels, chipmunks or other critters too. The fresh spring air and sounds of birds chirping makes being outside so peaceful and refreshing after winter.
