    Spring is My Favorite Season
    My name is Emily and I am seven years old. I love the spring season because everything looks so pretty and colorful after the cold winter. Spring reminds me of a Chinese four-character idiom that my mom taught me – 春华秋实 (chun hua qiu shi). It means "spring blossoms, autumn fruits." This idiom talks about how nature has different beautiful things to show in different seasons.
    In spring, we can see lots of pretty flowers blooming everywhere. My favorite spring flower is the cherry blossom. The cherry blossom trees in my neighborhood have pink flowers that look like fluffy clouds. When the wind blows, it makes the petals fall like pink snow. It's so magical!     Another Spring Thing

    Spring is my favorite time of year! Everything comes back to life after the cold winter. The flowers bloom, the birds sing, and the warm sun shines down on us. My mom always says spring is a season of hope and renewal. She uses lots of fun four-character idioms from Chinese to describe the spring season. These special idioms paint beautiful pictures in my mind. Let me share some of my favorites with you!
    The first idiom is "chun feng huan di" which means "spring wind warms the earth." I can easily picture the gentle spring breeze blowing across the newly green grass and budding trees after the frigid winter air is gone. The wind isn't too hot or too cold - it's just perfect for playing outside without needing a heavy coat. I love the feeling of the spring wind brushing against my face as I run around the park with my friends.
    Another great spring idiom is "chun cao qing yuan" which translates to "fresh green grass covers the field." Haven't you noticed how the bare, brown grass from winter suddenly becomes a lush green carpet again once spring arrives?
