PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for enabling a user to obtain a desired copying effect in the case of copying by using an image forming apparatus.
SOLUTION: A printer 10 provided with a scanner function has a scanner part 30 and a printer part 40 capable of printing in several printing modes, accepts one of coping modes such as a time precedence mode, the number-of-sheets precedence mode and a time and number-of-sheets precedence mode designated by the user, and further accepts, from the user, copying conditions such as conditions of a printing time and the number of sheets to be printed. The printer 10 then estimates printing time per sheet for every image mode on the basis of image data read by the scanner part 30, and thereafter displays the estimation of the printing time for each printing mode after fulfilling the copying condition. In the case an error between the estimated value and the actual printing time appears, the number of sheets to be printed is adjusted.
